Shop Streatham This Christmas…

Story from INStreatham November Newsletter, Tuesday 23rd 2021.

Christmas is here again and we're making a huge splash to promote Streatham as the ideal destination for shopping and celebrating. Our activities will focus on raising the profile of Streatham throughout the whole festive season with a range of activities including the return of the popular Christmas Lights Switch On event, Festive Trail, a lights display on the High Road and a new collaboration with the Brixton Chamber Orchestra. After spending last Christmas under strict social restrictions, we’re excited to bring our community together again, creating the space for inclusive celebration during the Christmas period.

We will kick off Christmas in Streatham on Small Business Saturday December 4th, when we host the annual Lights On Streatham event, there will be festive stalls, mulled wine, carol singing and of course Father Christmas will turn on the Christmas lights with help from special guests. Brixton Chamber Orchestra will also be a part of the fun by hosting a music trial in venues on the high road on the day. There will be a musician in 13 venues playing a few short sets and then forming a parade down to Streatham Green where they will perform their finale on the Lights On stage.

In addition, we’re adding some more cheer to the streets to enhance customer shopping experience, with an illuminated gift display outside the Odeon. The spectacular light display and enchanting Christmas trees make for a wonderful backdrop for Christmas photos.

Another edition of the “Streatham Book of Christmas” magazine has been published, a one stop shop for all seasonal inspiration with 12 pages packed full of gift guides for all the family, delectable festive treats and family time to entertain everyone.

The magazine will be delivered by to 15,000 homes in Streatham's catchment area from November 29th. Copies will also be available locally at cafes, surgeries and other pick up points.

As well as our Christmas magazine, we're also advertising in The South Londoner and Primary Times to promote our high street stores and local activities to a wider London audience over the festive season.

We are confident that these projects will support local businesses by attracting lots of excited visitors, something which continues to be a top priority for us.
